Flashlight, iTECHOR Water Resistant Super Bright 800 Lumens 3-Mode LED Zoomable Flashlight Torch

What can I say about this torch, firstly on looks alone this is worth the money, it really does look the biz! Chunky black anodised aluminium construction throughout, a decent spring clip for attaching to a belt, and a wrist lanyard, a definite plus point, at least to anyone who’s ever mislaid a torch in the undergrowth on a camping trip.

This all adds up at least to my mind, to a seriously decent bit of kit for the money, and this is before I switched it on, once I had switched it on, after it had gotten dark enough to make a proper appraisal, again I was pretty impressed it does give out a good amount of light, both on the narrow penetrating beam where it easily lit up the gate at the bottom of our back garden, a good 25 metres away, and on the flood light where it lit up most of the garden itself all be it with a more diffused light.

All in all a decent replacement for my mini Maglite, which finally gave up the ghost after years of faithful service, due in no small part to my own stupidity,(left the batteries in it too long and they leaked corroding all the innards.) If there is a down side to this torch I think it will be the weather-proofing, the rubber O-ring sealing the battery cap looks to be a bit flimsy especially compared to my old Maglite, and I can’t make out how they’ve sealed the beam adjustment ring, also I think the covering over the on off switch may wear through quite quickly.

These though are only my surmising’s and as with anything else only time will tell, for now I am well pleased with the purchase.

VonShef Stand Mixer, 5.5 Litre

To start let me say that we’ve only ever owned one of those hand held blender things in our house before now, so when we received the opportunity to purchase this wee beastie, I in particular jumped at the chance. (After all it’s me that usually gets stuck with the job whenever there’s any heavy or prolonged mixing involved.)First impression was whoa that’s big, with the bowl fitted it measures 16”long x 15”high x 9.5”wide that’s inches, we’re old school in our house, so maybe not one for anybody with a very small kitchen, or limited cupboard or worktop space.

The mixer itself looks really sleek so should be a doddle to keep clean, to that end it comes with a neat splash guard for the bowl which is easily fitted, and incorporates a lidded opening for adding additional ingredients while mixing is in progress.

The bowl is huge it is 5.5 litre capacity that’s nine and a half pints in English, (told you we were old school), it slots snugly into the base and secures with a quarter turn, it’s made of stainless steel so is dishwasher safe, word of warning here!.. I don’t think this is the case with the dough hook, or the flat beater attachments, as these look very much to me like they are made out of die cast aluminium, I would say that the balloon whisk, which is the only other accessory should be ok as this appears to be steel, (at least it reacts to a magnet so it’s definitely not ally).

At 1200watts there shouldn’t be any problems about power, we’ve not had any issues at all (though admittedly we’ve not done anything really heavy up to now). Time will tell I suppose?

Now for the 64 million dollar question is it value for money? This I’m afraid I cannot answer as I have never had anything of its like to compare it with.

Do I think it is a good machine? In my view most definitely.

How would I rate it? For me five stars. Others may differ.

If this review seems a little too good to be true I apologise, but I have given you my honest opinion, and as I have said already I have no comparisons.

Soft Emoji Smiley Emoticon Yellow Round Cushion

Bought this for our eldest granddaughter who’s Emoji mad, she never sends a message via her computer without attaching 3 or 4 at least.

She absolutely loves it, we got the smiley one, but now she wants to know how many others there are and can she collect them.

To be fair I can see the attraction, they are cute and they are exceedingly plush, the only other thing I have felt that was this soft, was our chinchilla, but you couldn’t lay your head on him. Seriously though this is one really comfy cushion, it’s lovely and springy and it holds its shape well.

The materials throughout are quality and I think personally that this is well worth the asking price even though we received this at a discounted price in return for this review, I have no reservations about buying more, the only complaint I have is the range of faces, there really needs to be more choice. I can see these becoming collectable, just like ty-beanies or steiff bears, myself I’m waiting for the king sized bed version so I can finally get a good nights kip. Definitely a five star buy. There is however one negative thing, it doesn’t come with any washing instruction’s! Manufacturer’s please take note.

Suppose I could always get the dogs to lick them clean, then again maybe not.

The Creativity Hub Rory’s Story Cubes

The Rory’s Story Cubes consist of 9 cubes, each with a different image on each of the 6 sides, enabling you to create a unique story on each throw. The images are open to personal interpretation as certain ones could be seen as a couple of different things.

Very compact so perfect for days out and holidays as they can just be put in your bag or pockets. Expansion packs are also available but we haven’t tried these as yet.

Absolutely fantastic for our 8 year old who we think is dyslexic. She can play on her own or we can all join in and make it a family game. Great for imaginative play, and keeping children quiet.

I can see why they have won so many awards.

Binatone Terrain 750 Twin Walkie Talkie

We bought the Walkie Talkies a year ago for our then 7 year old and they are still working. Definitely robust and work well.

We live surrounded by woodland and they have been used about 1 1/2 miles apart and although crackly they can still be used. I don’t think we would get the 5 mile range here but on more open ground I’m sure we would.

Perfect for both adults and children and at that price you can’t go wrong.

Mork & Mindy: Complete Collection [DVD]

I remember watching Mork & Mindy as a teenager (yes I’m that old). When I found the complete series for sale at less than £26 I had to buy it. This is a young Robin Williams doing what he did best.

So many classic episodes but the one that sticks in my mind is him being turned into a dog by Orson.

95 episodes on 15 discs, over 38 hours of fun. We’ve not watched them all yet but if the quality stays the same throughout I’ll be happy.

I can’t wait until the children are old enough to watch them.

Garmin eTrex 10 Outdoor Handheld GPS Unit

Bought as a gift for Geo-Caching. A bit difficult to get used to using and some proper instructions would have been nice to have. We ended up having to watch several youtube videos in order to operate it. For a beginner it is a good choice and it seems to be very well made and robust.

Even though we had (and still occasionally have) problems with operating and trying to figure out how to works, I would still recommend it as a starter unit for anybody who wants a GPS unit.
